The sizes of Maileg get a little bit confusing so we wanted to give you an easy way to see them up against each other to compare. We have created this blog to give you a closer look at them side by side as well as answering some FAQ.
Getting Started
We're often asked about where to start with Maileg and we think the best place is with the mice in Matchboxes.
They are perfect for children to take care of and tuck them into bed when they go to bed and wake up in the morning. Inside they have a mattress, pillow and blanket.
Later on, if you decide to extend on your collection you can use the boxes in a dollhouse for bedding too!
Following on from the Matchbox mice we love adding in the baby mice with some accessories like a high chair, cot, change table or babysitter. These are great for them to extend on their play with caring for the babies.
Don't forget to get creative with what you already have too. Here my eldest build a change table with Connetix Tiles.
The baby mice are available in a few different sets picture below; triplets, twins and sleepy wakey mice.
What to add next
We have loved expanding our collection over the years following on with interests that our children have shown. We usually add a piece to our collection on each birthday and at Christmas, one to share.
Sizes of Mice
The sizes of all mice are all listed on the product descriptions but it can be hard to visualize them together. Here we have laid them out with the size and name of each.
Below is some remnants of play my children created Christmas morning with all their mice and wrapped 'gifts' for them to wake up to using blocks and string!
Magnets in Hands
The mice with magnets in their are great for cuddling the baby mice, holding drinks or stabilizing the mouse to stand up at furntiure. The mice that have these in their hands are the Tricycle Mice and the Hiker Mice.

Furniture and House Sizes
Maileg offers a couple of different sizes of mice and furniture suited to the different sized mice; Miniture and Mouse.
The below photos shows you the size difference of the Mouse Kitchen (left) and Miniture Kitchen (right) with the same size mice, big brother and sister also with Mum and Dad.
Be sure to read the product descriptions of sizes of items when shopping and don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to see any specific items side by side. You can also mix and match sizes as well but they are to slightly different scales.
We have moved our house a few times over the years, it either sits on the floor, on a low coffee table and also fits well on the Ikea Trofast unit.
Houses for the mice come in two different sizes too. There is the Miniture Doll house (pictured above) which is best suited to the Miniture sized furniture which measures 80cm (H) x 72cm (W).
The other is the Mouse Farmhouse (below). This is best suited to the Mouse sized furniture and measures 56.5cm (H) x 63cm (W).
You don't need a house for the pieces to go in either. We also enjoy building houses with our blocks and Connetix Tiles as well.
We have also enjoyed making more accessories to add to houses with air dry clay - get creative with what you've got and have fun!
